Churchyard Memorial Regulations
New Churchyard Regulations have come into force in the Diocese of Lichfield.
The new regulations and related documents are all to be found on our refreshed web page: Churchyard Regulations, guidance and information.
The Diocesan Churchyard Memorial Regulations 2026 deal with the physical character of memorial stone and inscription which an incumbent may permit without a specific faculty being required. They also cover many other practical aspects of churchyard management.
If you are looking for a place of rest St James' graveyard is now closed for new burials but is open for the internment of ashes for parishoners.  It is essential you discuss this with both your Funeral Director and the Vicar of St James Church, who will be able to guide you, in terms of memorials, administration and costs.
